After a very consistent run of form the Gary Portelli trained Picaro (Pierro ex Sookie) got off the mark with a lovely victory over the staying distance of 2100m at Goulburn yesterday. Settling off the speed, the son of Pierro did it very easy in the closing stages under Jay Ford.

Picaro was consigned by Hallmark Stud during the 2017 NZB Premier Yearling Sale, purchased by Laurel Oak Bloodstock for $100,000. First dam Sookie is a daughter of Casino Prince and was victorious at group three level in Queensland, this family also features champion two year old and two time group one winner Victory Vein (Mr Henrysee).
