"Tale of the Cat is seen as a real loss to NZ as he is a truly International Sire, leaving no fewer than 11 Stakeswinners in the
Northern Hemisphere including Group 1 winner Lion Heart from only 2
crops to race. Even more impressive is that his only Southern
Hemisphere crop to race has produced 8 Stakes performers including 5
Stakeswinners".
"What shouldn't be forgotten also is that on his return to the
Southern Hemisphere in 2003 while standing at Coolmore, he served 153
mares, so there is plenty more to come in the near future".
"As predicted Le Bec Fin has already been very
well received for obvious reasons, he has so many genetic factors that
all breeders instantly recognise. His mother, Romanee Conti,
brilliant winner of the Hong Kong cup a few years ago and now the dam
of household name, Ethereal. Most people recall Le Bec
Fin's scorching debut at Taupo in January when breaking the track
record over 1000m and as already mentioned, Tale of the Cat's success
worldwide, so early in his career".
"Le Bec Fin is a great looking horse, powerfully built in a
sprinters mould, huge hind quarter, big forearm, a great walker and a strong stallion's head".
Le Bec Fin has the added dimension, through his
gene pool, of a double-up within six removes, to two of the greatest mares that
have had a massive impact, not only in the Southern Hemisphere, but all over the
world.
One of those two mares is the immortal Somethingroyal, dam of Secretariat and
Sir Gaylord. Secretariat is the sire of Terlingua, the mother of Storm Cat. Her
second influential son, Sir Gaylord, got Sir Ivor, the sire of Sir Tristram.
The other influential mare, Knight's Daughter the dam of Monarchy, Tale Of The
Cat's fourth dam. Monarchy is a full sister to Round Table, sire of Isolt,
dam of the multiple Dewar Stallion Trophy winner, Sir Tristram.
Le Bec Fin descends from Easter Bride, a matron who has both male and female
descendants capable of Gp1 class in both Hemispheres. Happyanunoit being one in
recent times.
